Abstract

The 18th ifo Branchen-Dialog (Industry Colloquium) took place on 8 November 2017. Around 200 participants from business, academia and politics discuss current developments and challenges in manufacturing, distribution, construction and the service sector. After a welcome speech by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Munich and Upper Bavaria Eberhard Sasse, Clemens Fuest, President of the ifo Institute, looked at "Economic Policy in the wake of the Bundestag elections." His speech was followed by four sector-specific fora. To conclude the event, Justus Haucap, Director of the Düsseldorfer Instituts für Wettbewerbsökonomie (DICE) at the University of Dusseldorf, discussed regulatory policy in a digitalised world. The conference was organised by the ifo Center for Industrial Organisation and New Technologies in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Munich and Upper Bavaria, with the support of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Media, Energy and Technology.
