Abstract

The ifo World Economic Climate remains favourable. Although experts assessed the current economic situation more positively than in April, they downwardly revised their optimistic expectations for the months ahead somewhat. The recovery in the world economy is expected to continue into the second half of 2017 at a slightly slower pace. The economic climate improved slightly, primarily in advanced economies, and particularly in the euro area. Britain was the only economy to experience a slump. The emerging and developing economies also had a dampening effect: The economic outlook clouded over in nearly all regions of the world. In advanced economies in particular, however, the economic situation was better than three months ago. The price increase in the world economy will slow down somewhat in the months ahead. Although most experts continue to expect an upturn in short-term and long-term interest rates, the share of economists expecting an interest rate increase fell slightly. According to experts, world trade will grow significantly over the next six months.
