Business Cycle Trends in Manufacturing – Selected Descriptive Aspects

Abstract

This article looks at business cycle developments in manufacturing. Production indices were examined at the two, three and four digit level. It emerges that the various branches of manufacturing were affected by the 2008/2009 economic crisis in very different ways. Basically, there only seems to be a very weak link between the volatility of business cycle developments and average growth rates.
