Abstract

In the context of the next major revision of the national accounts, the German Statistics Office will present its results for the first time according to the new European System of Accounts (ESA 2010) in September 2014. According to provisional estimates of the Official Statistics Office, Germany's nominal gross domestic product should, on the basis of ESA 2010 and specifically due to the accounting for R&D expenditure as an investment in intellectual property, be around 3% higher than the result calculated based on the current ESA. According to Eurostat, the average increase in the nominal gross product level for 2011 should amount to 2.4%.
