The German Electronics Industry in Relation to Other European Countries

Abstract

Analysis by Andreas Gontermann, ZVEI, Frankfurt am Main, shows that Europe’s electronics industry is represented to a large degree by five countries. A comparison of the German electronics industry with its counterparts in France, Great Britain, Italy and Spain shows that electrical engineering and the electronics industry in Germany not only dominates Europe in terms of size, but has also developed far more dynamically than its European counterparts over the last 15 years; and has clearly improved its international competitiveness as a result.
