Abstract

On 28 October 2011 the 8th Family Report was submitted to the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth in Berlin. It deals with the topic “Time for the Family” and with the needs and opportunities for a family-time policy. For the preparation of the report, an eight-member committee composed of experts from the fields of business and economics, sociology, developmental psychology and law was commissioned. The Ifo Institute, which was responsible for the coordinating office, supported the Commission organisationally and as well as making substantive contributions. In particular, it provided the empirical underpinning for the discussions and the report.
