Ifo Architects Survey: Clearly Improved Business Climate

Abstract

According to the results of the Ifo Institute's quarterly survey of freelance architects, the business climate at the beginning of the second quarter 2011 improved noticeably. It is now as good as it last was in 1994, the year the reunification boom ended. The surveyed architects assessed their current business situation more favourably than in the previous quarter. Only one in five expressed dissatisfaction with the present business situation, whereas 37% of the survey participants characterised their current business situation as good. Also the business expectations were more confident than a quarter ago. While the share of optimistic architects increased, the share of sceptical architects declined from 20% to 16%. On balance the architects thus voiced unbroken confidence in the six-month business outlook.
