Denmark: Continuing reform process brings economic strength

Abstract

In 2003 the real gross domestic product was only slightly above the volume of the previous year in Denmark. On the labour market the situation deteriorated clearly, the unemployment rate increasing to an average of 5¾%. The cost of living increased by around 2%. In 2004 real GDP will expand by about 2%. On the labour market no change is expected, with the unemployment rate falling only insignificantly vis-à-vis 2003 (5½%). Consumer prices will increase by around 1½% for the year. In 2005 GDP will increase by approx. 2½%. The unemployment rate will stand at 5% and inflation at 2%.
