Sustainable Development - welche Ergebnisse brachte der Gipfel von Johannesburg?

Abstract

Vom 26. August bis 4. September 2002 fand in Johannesburg der »Weltgipfel für Nachhaltige Entwicklung« statt. Für Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, Bundesministerin für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung, wurden »wichtige Impulse für Nachhaltige Entwicklung in der ganzen Breite des Begriffs gegeben«. Auch für Dr. Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker, MdB, ist der Gipfel, trotz eines äußerst schwierigen Umfeldes, »erfreulich positiv verlaufen«. Eine nüchternere Bilanz ziehen Prof. Dr. Edda Müller, Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband, und Jochen Flasbarth, Naturschutzbund Deutschland: »Statt einen energischen Schritt hin zu einer zukunftsfähigen Gestaltung der Welt zu gehen, haben sich die Verantwortlichen überwiegend damit befasst, Rückschritte zu verhindern. Es wurde weit weniger erreicht als notwendig, ...«
