West German manufacturing: Capacity utilisation unchanged, order reserves again higher

Abstract

Firms in the manufacturing industry (excluding food and beverages) utilised their production facilities at an 87% rate in December, matching mid-year performance. Order reserves rose from 3.0 to 3.1 production months; reserves were assessed as nearly satisfactory. For the coming months, firms expect stimulus to be weaker on the whole, but they were strongly confident regarding exports.
