Japans steiniger Weg ins 21. Jahrhundert

Abstract

Der dramatische Werteverlust der japanischen Währung um mehr als 40% innerhalb von drei Jahren, der nur durch die gemeinsame, massive Intervention der Notenbanken der USA und Japan (vorläufig?) gestoppt werden konnte, war ein neuer, unerfreulicher Höhepunkt der Krise, in der sich Japans Wirtschaft befindet. Eine erfolgversprechende Bekämpfung der Krise scheiterte bisher nicht zuletzt an der latenten Schwäche des politischen Systems. Seit dem ersten Quartal 1992 befindet sich die japanische Wirtschaft im Zustand konjunktureller Stagnation. Beliefen sich die realen Wachstumswerte des japanischen Bruttoinlandsprodukts von 1980 bis 1991 im Durchschnitt auf fast 4%, so überstiegen sie nach 1991 nur selten die 1%-Marke.
