Abstract

Der japanische Buch- und Zeitschriftenmarkt ist in den vergangenen Jahren kontinuierlich gewachsen. Fast 2% des Einzelhandelumsatzes entfallen auf Publikationserzeugnisse. Die meisten Bücher und Zeitschriften erreichen ihr Publikum auf dem normalen Vertriebsweg Verlag-Zwischenbuchhandel-Sortimenter. Sie werden grundsätzlich mit Remissionsrecht abgegeben. Die Rückgabequoten sind sehr hoch, 35% bei Büchern und 20% bei Zeitschriften. Auch in Japan verdrängt das Bücher- und Zeitschriftenangebot von Supermärkten und Buchkaufhäusern zunehmend kleine und mittlere Sortimentsbuchhandlungen. Gegen die im Rahmen der Deregulierung des Distributionssystems diskutierte Aufhebung der Buchpreisbindung wehren sich alle betroffenen Buchverbände mit Vehemenz.
