Mexiko : der dornige Weg zu mehr Stabilität

Abstract

Am 6. Juli 1997 finden in Mexiko Kongreßwahlen statt. Trotz positiver gesamtwirtschaftlicher Entwicklung befindet sich das Land nach der Pesokrise von 1994/95 immer noch in einer schwierigen wirtschaftlichen Lage, und die sozialen Probleme bleiben ungelöst. Sollte die seit beinahe 70 Jahren herrschende PRI die Mehrheit im Kongreß verlieren, sind zwar kurzfristig Turbulenzen an den Finanzmärkten nicht auszuschließen. Sie dürften aber nicht von Dauer sein, da eine Wende im Reformprozeß eher unwahrscheinlich ist.
