Abstract

1996 entwickelte sich die niederländische Wirtschaft, vor allem verglichen mit den meisten anderen westeuropäischen Industrieländern, recht günstig. Das reale Bruttoinlandsprodukt (BIP) expandierte um 2,8%. Erstaunliche Schubkraft entfaltete der private Verbrauch (+3,1%), was teilweise auf die spürbare Besserung der Arbeitsmarktlage zurückzuführen war. 1997 wird sich das insgesamt spannungsfreie Wirtschaftswachstum fortsetzen. Das reale BIP dürfte um fast 3% zunehmen. Am kräftigsten erhöht sich die Ausfuhr von Gütern und Dienstleistungen (+5%), der private Konsum wird nicht mehr so stark steigen, obwohl die Beschäftigung (hauptsächlich Teilzeit- und Zeitvertragsbasis) weiter zunimmt und die Arbeitslosenquote sinkt (auf gut 6%). Auch für 1998 kann mit einem Wachstum des realen BIP von etwa 3% gerechnet werden. Die Lage auf dem Arbeitsmarkt bessert sich weiter. In einem Exkurs wird untersucht, ob die Niederlande die Kriterien des Vertrags von Maastricht erfüllen.
