Abstract

1999 finden in Südafrika die nächsten allgemeinen Wahlen statt. Ob der ANC eine Zweidrittelmehrheit erreichen kann, hängt von der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung ab. Für 1997 wird mit einem Anstieg des BIP von 2% gerechnet. Zugleich nähert die Arbeitslosenrate sich der 40% Marke.
