Ernährungsgewerbe : intensiver Wettbewerb mit dem Lebensmittelhandel

Abstract

Die deutsche Ernährungsindustrie kann 1996 ein Produktions- und Umsatzwachstum von etwa 2 % erwarten. Wesentliche Nachfrageimpulse kommen aus dem Ausland. Im Inland haben die Lebensmittelhersteller - sieht man vom "Wiedervereinigungsboom" ab - seit Jahren mit einem weitgehend stagnierenden Absatz zu kämpfen. Überdies verlagert sich die Nachfrage immer stärker zu Waren des mittleren und unteren Preissegments. Neben Veränderungen im Verbraucherverhalten ist das deutsche Ernährungsgewerbe mit einer Reihe weiterer struktureller Probleme konfrontiert. Teilweise stehen sie im Zusammenhang mit der deutschen Vereinigung (Überkapazitäten, mangelnde Akzeptanz der Ostprodukte in den alten Ländern), aber auch Veränderungen im internationalen Umfeld (Globalisierung, Fall des Eisernen Vorhangs, Reform der EU-Agrarpolitik) und die Fülle rechtlicher Regelungen können die Konkurrenzfähigkeit gefährden. Besondere Bedeutung kommt den sich verschärfenden Wettbewerbsbeziehungen zwischen den Unternehmen der Ernährungsindustrie und dem Handel zu.
