Der Aufschwung begünstigt die industrielle Kernzone Europas

Abstract

ERECO, ein Zusammenschluß europäischer Wirtschaftsforschungsinstitute, legte vor kurzem seinen jährlichen Bericht "European Regional Prospects" vor. Die Prognosen wichtiger ökonomischer Größen für 200 europäische Regionen und 36 Städte reichen bis zum Jahr 1999. Die ostdeutschen Städte Dresden und Leipzig führen die Rangliste der europäischen Städte mit zweistelligen Wachstumsraten der Bruttowertschöpfung an. Berlin wächst zwar deutlich langsamer als Dresden und Leipzig, doch liegt es in der Rangfolge nach Dublin an vierter Stelle und somit vor allen anderen deutschen Städten. Auf der Ebene der Regionen setzen die ostdeutschen Länder ihre Aufholjagd sowohl bei der Beschäftigung als auch bei der Bruttowertschöpfung fort.
