Die europäische Integration zwingt die Städte zu weiterer Spezialisierung

Abstract

Der Bericht faßt die wesentlichen Ergebnisse des vierten Berichts der ERECO-Partnerinstitute "European Regional Prospects" vom Juni 1994 zusammen. Darin werden die Prognosen für 178 Regionen in der EU und Österreich bis zum Jahr 1998 sowie ausführliche Anmerkungen zu 36 ausgewählten Stadtregionen veröffentlicht. Dabei werden die Großstädte Europas klassifiziert. Man unterscheidet in der Studie zwischen modernen Industriestädten, Städte im strukturellen Wandel, Banken- und Versicherungsstädte, Hauptstädte, TGV-Städte und Tor-zu-Europa-Städte. Insgesamt werden durch die europäische Zusammenarbeit ein Wachstumsschub für die verschiedenen Städteregionen erwartet. Der Bericht beschreibt weiterhin die verschiedenen Perspektiven deutscher Städte und Regionen. Demnach werden die südlichen Regionen Deutschlands ein kräftigeres Wachstum der Bruttowertschöpfung, der Industrie und des Dienstleistungsgewerbes erleben als die nördlichen Bundesländer.
