Abstract

Das politische und soziale Umfeld Belgiens war 1993 und in den ersten Monaten 1994 geprägt von den gelegentlich aufflammenden flämisch-wallonischen Gegensätzen, dem Übergang vom Zentralstaat zum Bundesstaat und der Rückführung des immer noch sehr hohen staatlichen Finanzierungsdefizits. Die Wirtschaftsentwicklung 1993 wird über die Kennzahlen reales Bruttoinlandsprodukt, Bruttoanlageninvestition, privater Konsum, öffentlicher Verbrauch, Export, Import, Leistungsbilanz, Arbeitslosenquote und Konsumentenpreise analysiert. Gestützt auf Graphiken über Industrieproduktion,Preise und Löhne, Außenhandel, Währungsreserven und Zinssätze sowie den Veränderungsraten des realen BIP wird die Wirtschaftsentwicklung für die Jahre 1994 bis 1995 prognostiziert. Nach der Rezession 1993 wird für 1994 nur eine schwache konjunkturelle Belebung erwartet. Erst 1995 erholt sich die Nachfrage und Produktion allmählich. Die Wirtschaftspolitik Belgiens wird stabilisierungs- und konsolidierungsorientiert fortgesetzt. Der Preisanstieg wird weiterhin nur mäßig verlaufen. Auf dem Arbeitsmarkt wird eine weitere Verschlechterung der Lage erwartet. Die Leistungsbilanz beibt weiterhin aktiv.
