Abstract

Die politischen und sozialen Rahmenbedingungen sind in Österreich durch drei vorherrschende Themen bestimmt. Den Wahlen zum Nationalrat und den Landtagswahlen in Tirol, Salzburg und Kärnten wird besondere Bedeutung zugemessen, da sich dadurch die politische Lage längerfristig ändern könnte. Wichtigstes Thema ist allerdings das Referendum zum EU-Beitritt. Die Wirtschaftsentwicklung 1993 wird über die Kennzahlen reales Bruttoinlandsprodukt, Bruttoanlageinvestition, privater Konsum, öffentlicher Verbrauch, Export, Import, Leistungsbilanz, Arbeitslosenquote und Konsumentenpreise analysiert. Gestützt auf Graphiken über Industrieproduktion,Preise und Löhne, Außenhandel, Währungsreserven und Zinssätze sowie den Veränderungsraten des realen BIP wird die Wirtschaftsentwicklung für die Jahre 1994 bis 1995 prognostiziert. Österreich hat die Rezession 1993 glimpflich überstanden. Durch eine nachfragestimmulierende Wirtschaftspolitik wird für 1994 eine allmähliche Konjunkturbelebung erwartet, die sich 1995 festigen soll. 1994 wird die zweite Stufe der Steuerreform eingeleitet. Der Preisanstieg verlangsamt sich deutlich und die Arbeitslosigkeit wird zunächst noch zunehmen.
