Der Markt für elektronische Informationsdienstleistungen

Abstract

Die deutsche Wirtschaft konnte innerhalb der Europäischen Gemeinschaft im Bereich elektronischer Informationsdienste auch 1992 seinen zweiten Platz hinter Großbritannien halten, gefolgt von Frankreich. Eine größenmäßige Annäherung des EG-Informationsmarktes an den der USA erfolgt derzeit nur langsam. Hier kann ein Abhängigkeitsverhältnis vom amerikanischen Informationsmarkt entstehen, wenn Europa nicht in der Lage ist aufzuholen oder wenn weitere europäische Hosts in US-amerikanischen Besitz gelangen. Wahrscheinlicher ist aber, daß erhebliche Expansionspotentiale der elektronischen Informationsdienste in Europa bestehen, die es zu nutzen gilt. Plakative Brancheneinschätzungen des deutschen Marktes weisen die Richtung vom "Informationsdienst-Entwicklungsland" über "zunehmende Nutzung" bis hin zum "Weltniveau". Unterstützend auf den Ausbau des Informationsmarktes dürften Fachinformationsprogramme, etwa in Deutschland oder EG-weit, wirken. Insbesondere für Deutschland besteht die Chance, Informationsdrehscheibe zwischen den westlichen Industrieländern und den ehemals sozialistischen Transformationsländern zu werden. Aber nicht nur für diesen Aspekt gilt generell : Die Branche der elektronischen Informationsdienste steht erst am Anfang einer voraussichtlich erfolgreichen Entwicklung.
