EG-Binnenmarkt bringt dem Verbraucher neben Vorteilen auch Risiken

Abstract

Umfragen haben gezeigt, daß zwischen dem Kenntnisstand und den Erwartungen der Verbraucher und den objektiven Auswirkungen des Binnenmarktes teilweise noch Diskrepanzen bestehen. Den Befürchtungen der Verbraucher, daß z.B. das Qualitätsniveau sinken und die Produktsicherheit nicht mehr gewährleistet sein könnte, sollte daher durch verbraucherpolitische Maßnahmen Rechnung getragen werden. Die Untersuchung, in der für einige Waren- und Dienstleistungsbereiche auch genauer der Frage nachgegangen wurde, welche Faktoren die positiven Effekte des Binnenmarktes beeinträchtigen, ergab Handlungsbedarf auf folgenden Gebieten: Die Effizienz der Aufsichts- und Kontrollbehörden sowie die Stellung der Verbraucher gegenüber monopolähnlichen Anbieterpositionen sollten gestärkt und die Markttransparenz verbessert werden. Im Interesse der Verbraucher scheint auch eine Politik, die generell den Wettbewerb fördert sowie Bürokratismus vermeidet oder abbaut angebracht.
