Die Rolle von Informationen in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft

Abstract

Die Informationswirtschaft ist zwar - gemessen z.B. an ihrem Umsatz, der 1990 in der gesamten EG nur etwa 6,3 Mrd. DM erreichte, - eine kleine Branche. Wesentlich größer ist ihr mittelbarer Einfluß auf die Volkswirtschaft und auf die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit einzelner Unternehmen. In dem Beitrag wird über einen Workshop berichtet, den das Policy Studies Institute, London, und die EG-Generaldirektion XIII (Informationstechnologien, Informationsindustrie und Telekommunikation) im November 1992 veranstaltet haben. Diskutiert wurde die Bedeutung von elektronischen Informationsdienstleistungen (online-Datenbanken, CD-ROM, Videotex und Auditex) in volkswirtschaftlicher und betriebswirtschaftlicher Perspektive. Außerdem wurden informationspolitische Programme Japans und der EG vorgestellt, mit denen das Angebot von Informationsdienstleistungen verbessert und ihre Nutzung gefördert werden soll.
