Ist die westdeutsche Wirtschaft in einer Rezession?

Abstract

Nach dem einigungsbedingten Boom, der bis zum Frühjahr 1991 reichte, hat sich die westdeutsche Konjunktur deutlich abgekühlt.Geht damit breits das Gespenst der Rezession um? Die in den Vereinigten Staaten und zunehmend auch in Deutschland gebräuchliche Definition für Rezession "Rückgang des saisonbereinigten realen Sozialprodukts in mindestens zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Quartalen" läßt wichtige Maßstäbe zur Beurteilung der Konjunkturlage außer acht. Bezieht man diese mit ein, so darf in Westdeutschland derzeit nicht von Rezession gesprochen werden.
