Namibia vor schweren Jahren - Tendenzen zukünftiger Wirtschaftsentwicklung

Abstract

Für Namibias Wirtschaft ergeben sich nach der Unabhängigkeit teilweise wenig erfreuliche Perspektiven. Die Fischfangergebnisse gehen zurück. Die Überfischung soll durch Fangquoten ausgeglichen werden. Beim Bergbau ist der Exportrückgang um real 30% im Vergleich zu 1989 ein alamierendes Zeichen; betroffen sind die Bergbauprodukte Diamanten, Uran und Buntmetalle. Eine ganz neue Entwicklung stellt seit Öffnung der Grenzen zu den schwarzafrikanischen Nachbarn der Transithandel dar. Einnahmen aus Zollanteilsüberweisungen aus der Südafrikanischen Zollunion (SACU) stellen für Namibias Staatshaushalt eine wichtige Einnahmequelle dar. SACU scheint aber als Ganzes gefährdet zu sein. Namibia braucht im Rahmen der internationalen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit Stützungen von außen.
