Abstract

Das südliche Afrika gilt in Schwarzafrika als die Region mit der größten wirtschaftlichen Leistungsfähigkeit, die Antriebskraft für das restliche sub-saharische Afrika werden könnte. In dieser Region verdient Simbabwe besonders Beachtung: Es machte im vergangenen Jahrzehnt große Fortschritte auf dem Weg zu einer gesellschaftlichen Ordnung, in der Schwarz und Weiß gleichberechtigt leben können. Nach Südafrika gilt es als das mit Abstand wirtschaftlich am besten entwickelte Land in Schwarzafrika. Schließlich gehört Simbabwe mit der nun auch formalen Abkehr von dem Ziel, ein an afrikanischen Sozialismusvorstellungen orientiertes Wirtschafts- und Gesellschaftssystem aufzubauen, zu den jüngsten Beispielen einer Entwicklung, die in vielen schwarzafrikanischen Staaten zu beobachten ist.
