WIDAB: ein neues Informationssystem für die Wirtschaft

Abstract

Im Aufsatz wird das Informationssystem WIDAB (Wirtschaftsinformation- und Datenbank), das vom Deutschen Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung, Berlin und dem ifo Institut, München, entwickelt wurde vorgestellt. Es soll vor allem kleine und mittlere Unternehmen durch eine benutzerfreundliche Oberfläche den Zugang zu elektronischen Wirtschaftsinformationen erleichtern. Mit Hilfe von Informationsbündeln, die nach Wirtschaftsbereichen und Themen geordnet sind, kann der Benutzer nun gesteuert am PC suchen. Gleichzeitig erhält er die Daten verständlich (z.B. Graphik, Tabellenform) aufbereitet. Mit Hilfe von umfangreichen Datensatzbeschreibungen gelangt er auch an einzelne Datensätze. Auch die Eingabe eigener, themenbezogener Daten ist möglich. Die gesamten Datenbestände liegen auf einem Großrechner. Sie werden jedoch über Zentralrechner (Terminal Interface Processor, TIP) den Benutzern auf deren PC zugänglich gemacht.
