Gesamtwirtschaftliche Perspektiven für Deutschland

Abstract

Die konjunkturelle Entwicklung in Deutschland ist weiterhin deutlich aufwärtsgerichtet. Mit der Festigung der Konjnktur hat sich eine Wende am Arbeitsmarkt vollzogen. So ist der Rückgang der Erwerbstätigkeit im Herbst 1997 zum Stillstand gekommen. Die Verbesserung der Arbeitsmarktsituaion beschränkt sich allerdings auf Westdeutschland. In Ostdeutschland, wo der Abschwung im Baugewerbe besonders stark zu Buche schlägt, verringerte sich bisher lediglich das Ausmaß des Beschäftigungsabbaus. Die kräftige Expansion der Warenausfuhr hat sich ebenso wie die Zunahme der Investitionstätigkeit fortgesetzt. Die Nachfrage der privaten Haushalte, die im vergangenen Jahr nahezu stagnierte, hat nach der Jahreswende deutlich zugenommen.
