Umweltschutzwirtschaft in Ostdeutschland : Bestandsaufnahme und Entwicklungsperspektiven

Abstract

Die ostdeutsche Umweltschutzwirtschaft, deren regionale Schwerpunkte in Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt und im Großraum Berlin liegen, erhofft sich zunehmend Exportchancen, insbesondere in den Ländern Mittelost- und Osteuropas. Es stellt sich die Frage, ob ostdeutsche Firmen aufgrund historisch gewachsener Wirtschaftsbeziehungen, geographischer Nähe und der bei der ökologischen Sanierung in den neuen Ländern gewonnenen Erfahrungen besondere Wettbewerbsvorteile auf den genannten Märkten haben. Das Umweltbundesamt hatte zu diesem Thema das ifo Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung mit der Erstellung des Gutachtens "Verbesserung der Chancen ostdeutscher Unternehmen auf dem Umweltschutzmarkt" beauftragt. In diesem Beitrag wird dargestellt, welchen Umfang und welche Struktur die ostdeutsche Umweltschutzwirtschaft mittlerweile angenommen hat, wo ihre Wettewerbsvorteile und wo zukünftige Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten liegen und welche Förderstrategien sich anbieten.
