Abstract

The idea of civil society influence on the production, reproduction and transformation institutions in developing countries is a topic for debate. Conceptually, the notion of civil society is ambiguous, while situations arise varied, complex and contradictory in practice. Drawing on the analysis of North, Wallis and Weigast (2010) the relationship between violence and social order involving civil society, we try to provide a theoretical analysis to exclude or to absorb the civil society as a counter-power in Algeria.
