Abstract

This paper provides early evidence of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on unemployment in the Slovak Republic. However, the emphasis is not put solely on all citizens employed in Slovakia as a whole, but our target is to analyse unemployment based on nationality. It follows that we examine either Slovak citizens, and immigrants from EU and EEA, as well as migrants from third countries. Drawing from the gathered data we can conclude that the pandemic has affected all examined groups, however, the effect varies. The most vulnerable group is foreigners from third countries who have been affected the most, even after the pandemic outbreak. Using the data from the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, the comparative analysis offers initial insights into the impacts of the pandemic of COVID-19 on the labour market.
