Abstract

The European Commission publishes annual Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) reports to monitor the state of digitalisation in Member States. Thus, each year the reports included country profiles, which helped Member States to identify priority areas for action, as well as thematic chapters providing an EU-wide analysis of key digital policy areas. The DESI ranks Member States according to their level of digitalisation and analyses their relative progress over the last five years, based on their starting point. In this paper we look at our country's position according to the latest report. We also found that digitalisation in the EU is uneven, although there are signs of convergence. While the leaders have remained unchanged, there is a substantial group of Member States that cluster around the EU average. Achieving the Digital Decade goals depends on a collective effort by all.
