Abstract

This paper deals with historical path over the formation of energy-saving policies in the advanced countries of the world as well as identifies priority directions of its implementation in various sectors of economy in Ukraine. Attention is focused on the fact that high rates of decrease in energy intensity of gross domestic product in economically developed countries of the world took place through the processes of energy-saving and were achieved under conditions of multiple appreciation of fuel and energy resources, slowdown in economic growth and an active restructuring of the economy. Therefore, energy conservation, the transition of our economy to widespread adoption of high technologies in production and the use of renewable energy sources should become determining factors of Ukraine’s energy strategy for the future.
