The red fox (Vulpes Vulpes L.): ecological aspects of species existence in the Forest-steppe of Ukraine

Abstract

This paper deals with ecological aspects of the existence of the red fox cenopopulations in the modern Forest-steppe of Ukraine. The author has found that throughout the region none of the investigated climatic factors had a statistically significant modifying effect on the species size. At the same time, the density of colonies of mouse-like rodents on arable land was the only probable, common to all natural-agricultural provinces, a factor regulating the density of the red foxes
