Análisis de los efectos de la inflación en el crecimiento económico: evidencia para la economía boliviana

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se analiza la relación entre la inflación y el crecimiento económico en Bolivia durante el período 1970-2013, tomando como marco de referencia la teoría de los ciclos económicos. Aplicando los modelos VAR, se ha estimado un sistema, incluyendo múltiples cambios estructurales que fueron observados y testeados en las series. Del análisis se concluye que, de acuerdo a la evidencia, existe una relación negativa entre la inflación y el crecimiento económico. Además, se ha revisado la importancia de la política monetaria del Banco Central en la consecución de una inflación baja y un crecimiento económico alto.
