Abstract

Sustainability is a subject of considerable discussion in literature, both conceptually and empirically. Research has shown the value of sustainability at business, national and global level. Sustainability is a central factor in the policies of people, organisations and governments. Corporate sustainability can be seen as a modern concept in the area of corporate governance, as an alternative to the conventional model of growth and benefit maximization. While corporate sustainability recognizes the importance of corporate growth and profitability, companies must follow the priorities of society especially those related to sustainable development-environmental conservation, social justice and equality and economic development. The combination of these factors would enable businesses to become profitable by achieving longterm growth goals, increasing productivity and optimizing shareholder value.
