Abstract

Meliponiculture, the management of stingless bees (Tribe Meliponini), is an emerging agro-ecological enterprise in the Philippines, standing at the intersection of biodiversity conservation, agricultural productivity, and rural livelihood development. Unlike conventional apiculture with Apis mellifera, meliponiculture utilizes native bee species, offering unique products and ecological benefits. Despite its growing importance, knowledge on this subject remains fragmented across scientific literature, government reports, and community practices. This review aims to synthesize the current state of Philippine meliponiculture to provide a holistic understanding of its status, challenges, and potential. A systematic literature review was conducted to gather and analyze relevant information.
