Conflict Resolution in Educational Settings: An Analysis of Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Human Resource (HR) management in conflict resolution within primary and secondary schools in Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe, using a rigorous mixed-methods systems approach. While existing literature often conceptualises HR practices as isolated and linear interventions, this study advances a novel theoretical framework HR–Conflict Systems Integration Theory (HR-CSIT), which conceptualises conflict resolution as an emergent outcome shaped by the interaction between HR practices, relational climate, and institutional capacity. Empirical data were collected from 30 participants drawn exclusively from schools, including HR personnel, school administrators, and teachers, using structured surveys and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were analysed using multiple regression and structural equation modelling (SEM), while qualitative data were analysed through thematic analysis to provide contextual depth.
