Extent of Gulayan sa Paaralan Implementation, Nutritional Status, School Based Management Level and Pupils’ Academic Achievement

This study aimed to determine the relationship between the extent of implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program among public elementary school teachers and the pupils’ nutritional status, School-Based Management (SBM) level, and academic achievement in Araling Panlipunan in Malaybalay City District I during the School Year 2018–2019. Based on the data gathered, the study revealed that the implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program was practiced to a very high extent. Findings further showed that the number of pupils classified as wasted and severely wasted was reduced in District I of the Division of Malaybalay City during the School Year 2018–2019. In terms of School-Based Management, the participating schools were categorized under Level II SBM practice. Moreover, the pupils’ academic achievement in Araling Panlipunan generally fell within the outstanding level, with most learners obtaining grades of 90 percent and above. The study found that only selected indicators of Gulayan sa Paaralan implementation were significantly associated with pupils’ nutritional status and academic achievement in Araling Panlipunan, while no significant relationship was found between the program implementation and School-Based Management level. In light of the findings, it is recommended that school officials sustain the very high level of implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program by continuously strengthening the support and participation of teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. Teachers may continue promoting and maintaining pupils’ nutritional well-being through regular feeding programs and nutrition-related activities. Internal and external stakeholders are likewise encouraged to strengthen their collaboration and support for school programs and activities to further enhance School-Based Management practices and promote educational excellence. Pupils may also be encouraged to maintain and improve their academic performance in Araling Panlipunan through consistent study habits, active participation in class activities, and cooperation with teachers and parents. Finally, school officials may continue and strengthen the implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program since the findings demonstrated its significant contribution to pupils’ nutritional status, School-Based Management practices, and academic achievement.
