Abstract

This paper aims to verify whether, before the crisis, the structure of compensation has encouraged Us bank managers to adopt the originate-todistribute (Otd) model through the use of credit risk transfer techniques. The analysis confirms this hypothesis: the spread of the Otd model can be referred not only to specific company characteristics, but also to the incentives that the compensation mechanisms provided to top management.
