Early prevention of accessibility issues

Author

Listed:
  • Tierney, Aidan

Abstract

As many as one in five people have a disability. This paper presents a workflow intended to help content creators deliver web and mobile experiences to as many users as possible, including those with disabilities. The goals of the approach are to anticipate and prevent accessibility issues during early work – prior to development – and to understand accessibility as a responsibility shared across the team. Reviews of project requirements, supplier contracts, wireframes or mock-ups, visual designs and copy decks are opportunities to identify potential issues before they enter the product build.
