Design and defects: Responsibilities and liabilities

Abstract

Surveyors deal on a regular basis with defects. This paper offers a reminder of where liabilities and responsibilities lie, particularly in the context of design and fitness for purpose but also in respect of statutory obligations under the Defective Premises Act 1972.
