Online information, data workflows and the role of technology in residential valuation

Abstract

Technology marches on, and throughout the built environment we are starting to see some of the innovations and developments that have first targeted consumers begin to find their place in the various workflows around more business-focused applications. The availability of property and environmental data is driving workflow opportunities for lenders and their valuation partners as well as influencing the wider property transaction as data moves up the chain and becomes available to drive decisions earlier in the mortgage and conveyancing process to the benefit of consumers. This has significant implications for valuation surveyors; technology is shaping workflows now and will continue to do so.
