Abstract

The aim of this research is to propose an appropriate model for transforming the National Iranian Oil Company into an international entity. Statoil Company was used in a case study; its characteristics were combined with the needs of the National Iranian Oil Company to reach a comparative model for this development. The nature of the research was qualitative and thematic analysis method was applied to analyze data which were collected from interviews with Iranian as well as Norwegian oil and gas industries experts. Next, the internationalization model for the National Iranian Oil Company was presented in the formwork of three themes and eight categories; besides, the position of the company was determined in the model. This model has been designed in such a way that it can firstly submit the strategies necessary to apply any of the changes, and secondly, can highlight the level of agreement between each strategy and the themes presented for change. Results recommend what strategies should be used and how much they should be emphasized in order to reach any appropriate change.
