The New York city narcotics register a case study

Abstract

The New York City Narcotics Register, established in 1963 in response to the apparent sharp rise in the incidence of narcotic addiction, serves as a model of an effective and confidential public health register. Discussion of the utilization of the disease register concept in monitoring and understanding the problem of drug abuse is presented.
