Abstract

// In this paper, the authors analyze the impact of lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic on consumption using high-frequency data from the geo-analytics.kz resource. This data includes transactions conducted through cash registers in Almaty and its suburbs on a daily basis and disaggregated at the level of polygons of approximately 500 by 500 meters. This study was conducted as part of a research grant provided by the National Bank of Kazakhstan. This special issue of the National Bank of Kazakhstan’s Economic Review presents a summary of the report presented at the conference.
