Abstract

This article to present the geography of the Brazilian agricultural development between 1970 and 1985. The starting point is to take into account the high level of heterogeneity of agricultural development in Brazil. The idea is to bring this heterogeneity as an endogenous factor for the identification of the "agricultural regions" to be obtained. The methodological tool to make operational this idea is the use of factor analysis to gather the full range of information of the Brazilian agriculture. As a result, the analysis identifies 37 regions representing almost 80% of the Brazilian agricultural production in 1985.
