Kurumsal Sürdürülebilirlik ve Firma Performansı: Türkiye Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Türkiye’de Borsa İstanbul Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksi’nde yer alan şirketlerin çevresel, sosyal ve yönetişim performansları ile finansal performans göstergeleri arasındaki ilişkiyi analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. ESG performansı; çevresel, sosyal ve yönetişim skorları aracılığıyla; finansal performans ise aktif kârlılığı, özsermaye kârlılığı, fiyat/kazanç oranı ve piyasa değeri/defter değeri oranı ile temsil edilmiştir. Çalışmada, 2019-2023 yıllarına ait 48 şirketin verileri kullanılarak panel regresyon analizi uygulanmıştır Araştırma sonuçları, çevresel yatırımların şirket karlılığını olumlu yönde etkilediğini ortaya koyarken, sosyal sorumluluk projelerinin kısa vadede maliyet baskısı yarattığını göstermektedir. Yönetişim uygulamalarının ise yatırımcı değerleme ölçütleri üzerinde beklenenin aksine olumsuz etkisi olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışma, kârlı şirketlerin ESG yatırımlarına daha fazla kaynak ayırabildiğini, ancak bu yatırımların finansal performansa anında yansımadığını belirlemiştir. Büyük ölçekli firmaların hem sürdürülebilirlik uygulamalarında hem de finansal sonuçlarda daha başarılı oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Çalışma, gelişmekte olan piyasa koşullarında ESG performansının finansal çıktılar üzerindeki etkisine dair özgün ampirik kanıtlar sunmakta ve sürdürülebilirlik odaklı kurumsal stratejilerin finansal performansla entegrasyonu konusunda literatüre katkı sağlamaktadır.
