Abstract
The shrimp and banana industries have shown substantial expansion in Ecuador, during the trade opening stage, based on import substitution. On the other hand, digital business networking and marketing tools have become the titans of remote multi-level networking in the first half of the 21st century. The uses of such tools are clear with free online Apps for a variety of purposes. They enable remote working and make communication, collaboration, management, and organization of the company possible. In such scenario, this article aimed to evaluate the incorporation of free online Apps for collaborative work in banana and shrimp MSMEs in the Province of El Oro, first, to categorize the type of free online Apps for collaborative work, and second, to recognize the situation in which they find themselves, second, to recognize the situation of shrimp and banana MSMEs concerning Apps in Ecuador, and third, to specify a proposal in four phases for the best action plan for incorporating free online Apps for collaborative work in banana and shrimp MSMEs in the Province of El Oro. In this way, a descriptive statistical study is used through surveys to support the results that show Google Calendar and Trello as two Apps known by the managers of the MSMEs of El Oro (Ecuador), besides identifying that incorporating free online Apps to the MSMEs in El Oro is in three phases: (i) identification of the potential of free online Apps for collaborative work, (ii) analysis of the production and marketing activities susceptible to incorporate the use of Apps, and (iii) description of a plan to incorporate Apps into the organization’s information system.
