Abstract

The article presents the strategies of entrepreneur women in rural Andalisia, within the context of the European politicians of rural development. Social constructions of gender, its specific meaning in rural Andalusia and feminine empowerment, were used as analytic concepts. The investigation project was basically sustained in qualitative methodology. Through personal trajectories of a sample of rural managers, we prove that their processes of decision-making are mediatized by the segmentation of social spaces and the assignment of gender roles. However, diversification are somehow exceptions in rural Andalusian women. The objective of personal realization is still a breaking decision regarding social constructions of gender embedded in a large part of rural villages. But their real profile is not only that of innovators, independent and firm women with hard projects. Usually, the tend to self-employment, high dedication levels, sacrifice spirit and family loyalties. There autonomy is therefore relative, there is a limited managerial formation and scarce assumption of risks.
